As a woman in America, I have freedom many cannot comprehend. I live in a time and place where I can choose my religion, my clothes, my food, my hair color, and my life partner, among innumerable other things.
And yet I live in a time and place where we struggle daily to overcome stereotypes.
But what I am learning is that sometimes we are our worst enemies, our harshest critic.
Because to be truly, deeply free, we must do more than embrace our true selves, we must let go of our persona, our masks, our attempts to measure up. The longer we cling to our chains, the longer we steal our own freedom.
So let go, take a deep breath, and embrace freedom.
