October Update

And hello, friends! It has been so long since I posted a review, so I wanted to just let you know a little of what is going on in my life.

Fall is finally beginning to slip into South Mississippi– the temps are in the 80’s and are supposed to begin dipping into the 70’s in the next few days. Can you say bliss?!

Life is busy these days, with an abundance of little joys. As much as I love sharing reviews here at The Nerdy Bookworm, I never want to get stressed over them, I want to have the freedom to take a few weeks off every now and then, and just enjoy the moments that are passing far too fast. I think you understand?

My life right now is busy with cake decorating classes, learning to crochet with my 89-year-old great-great aunt from Belgium, being my grandfather’s chauffeur, grocery shopping, chiropractor visits, church, and, well, I think you get the idea… life.

As the leaves change, fall to the ground, and crunch under shoes, my mind always begins to think forward to the coming holiday season and new year, and I tend to get a bit contemplative. I like to think of it as my built-in life realignment! Where am I going in life? Am I in the middle of God’s Will? Am I using my gifts fully for His Glory? Am I living each moment full, to the hilt?

As I realign, I am also going to be busy trying to plot out how I want things at The Nerdy Bookworm to grow and change in 2014. I am excited, and I hope you are, too!

Before I skip off to the basket of laundry and the decorator tips to clean and the boiled peanuts to bag and the cats to cuddle and the stacks of books to read and the library returns and notes to mail and all the little things filling every moment to bursting, I just wanted to leave you with a few books you might consider for those crisp afternoons curled up:

A Million Little Ways, Emily Freeman’s new book, released just this month. I haven’t bought or read it yet, but it is definitely on my to-read-this-fall list!

Kisses From Katie, Katie Davis’ amazing story of love, life, and the Grace of God. A page-turner that will make you laugh, cry, and want to move to the mission field!

Who doesn’t like to curl up with Anne of Green Gables on a fall day? It’s time to be captured by the magical world of Anne all over again!

Right now we are in between Canadian Thanksgiving and American Thanksgiving, but it is never too early to start giving thanks for our blessings. Read One Thousand Gifts, and start living fully in the now.

Be prepared to laugh, cry, and learn as you read this wonderful, down-to-earth book by Catherine Marshall. Meeting God at Every Turn has convinced me that Marshall must have been a kindred spirit!
